Standardized Test Preparation

The Chernik Group offers individual preparation for standardized tests, including the ISEE, SSAT, PSAT, SAT, ACT, SAT Subject, AP, GRE, and LSAT tests. 

Our preparation includes both content review and instruction in test-taking strategies and techniques. 

We also offer intensive preparation for the written components of standardized tests, timed essay sections in which students must present a well-organized, compelling argument in response to a given prompt.  Our approach includes training in the basics of a successful argumentative essay: a clear and well-articulated thesis; proper structure and use of topic sentences; the smooth and logical flow of ideas; convincing, well-analyzed evidence; inspired use of language; and strong mechanics.

We believe that rigorous preparation for the essay components of standardized tests strengthens academic writing skills and thus serves students well beyond the tests themselves.
