A unique educational consulting practice with an exceptional team of associates, The Chernik Group specializes in helping students optimize their academic performance and manifest their potential inside and outside the classroom. We also offer a full range of services to professional writers. Founded in Manhattan in 1999, we have been working remotely with clients everywhere since 2008. 

We provide Academic Performance Coaching, Tutoring, and Application Consulting. We approach this work holistically and with two intentions: to help students master the academic task at hand while simultaneously assisting them in deepening their understanding of themselves as learners, building a range of intrapersonal (“within the self”) and executive functioning skills, and developing new and productive habits.

We partner closely with the schools and educational psychologists who refer students to us and are always transparent in the work that we do. A detailed summary of each session is sent to each student’s family and, when requested, the student’s teachers, learning specialist and/or psychologist. Our Academic Performance Coaching offers rigorous training in executive functioning, study skills, metacognition, and mindfulness. We teach our clients how to learn, as well as to build motivation, sustain focus, and manage and harness the many emotions that are integral to academic life. Our coaching challenges, guides, and supports. We assist clients in performing to the best of their abilities, as well as in developing confidence, resilience, and independence.

Our Tutoring includes expert subject instruction, training in academic writing, and standardized test preparation. Our clients range from lower school through graduate school students. We offer our clients superior tutoring while empowering them to become independent learners. 

Our Application Consulting assists clients in preparing college and graduate school applications. We specialize in guiding clients through the process of writing outstanding Personal Statements and supplemental application essays.  We call our innovative, intensive approach The Art and Craft of the Application Essay™. Additionally, we help clients manage their multiple application tasks and deadlines, prepare for interviews, and ensure their entire application package tells a compelling, coherent story.

The Chernik Group also offers Writing and Editing services to professionals in a variety of fields, including academia, medicine, business, law, and creative writing. We support professional writers through every stage of the writing process.
